Scott Hamilton

founding partner

Scott Hamilton is a skilled legal advocate with a broad range of legal experience helping him press for client’s rights in any setting. Before turning his attention to the fight for immigrant’s safety from oppressive and violent circumstances, Scott served in different roles as a general practitioner, In-House Counsel for a Virginia title company, and as a personal injury attorney. A graduate of Loyola New Orleans College of Law, Scott represented his classmates on the student led Honor Board, later serving as Chief Justice. Additionally,  Scott represented the Loyola for two years as a member of the First Amendment Moot Court Team. At the end of his last semester, Scott’s classmates recognized his unending well of fierce support for others around campus, electing him as the student commencement speaker at graduation. Scott’s passion for immigrant communities began when he served as a student practitioner in Loyola’s Children’s Rights Clinic. Partnering with Loyola’s Immigration Clinic, Scott and his clinic partner helped kids secure status as Special Immigrant Juveniles (SIJ) throughout his last year in law school. From his very first SIJ client, Scott has advocated on behalf of those seeking refuge and a better life. Scott knows that every immigrant’s experience echoes every others, whether your family arrived to our shores 200 years ago or 200 days ago. That inspired Scott’s move from a successful personal injury law firm in Texas to Amistad Law in 2024. When he isn’t working hard for our clients, Scott enjoys cooking, getting to know Colorado’s natural splendor and being a dutiful dog-Dad to his pup, “Moose.” He also enjoys collecting law licenses! Already licensed in multiple states, Scott is now pursing a Colorado law license to help make sure Amistad can provide our clients with coordinated local representation when and where local matters might enhance any client’s ability to remain safe from local, national and international challenges to their life and liberty

Nicholas Pierce

founding partner

Originally from South Louisiana, Nicholas has represented those in need for his entire career. After finishing undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University, Nicholas attended Loyola New Orleans College of Law. As a law student, Nicholas embodied Loyola’s ethos of service over self. This ethos was marked by Nicholas’ time as a judicial intern to Judge Laurie White in the Orleans Parish Criminal Court, as well as taking on indigent criminal defense clients in Loyola’s Criminal Defense Clinic. Loyola also helped spark his lifelong interest in immigrant rights as an Oralist, Brief Writer and Coach on Loyola’s Jessup Moot Court team. Since passing the bar, Nicholas has become a successful criminal defense and immigration attorney with years as an industry leading Colorado refugee advocate. After years running Amistad Law, an immigration non-profit, Nicholas joined with Scott Hamilton to expand his practice and form Hamilton Pierce, P.C. Before becoming a leading immigration attorney, Nicholas earned his place as a skilled trial attorney, negotiating hundreds of plea deals for misdemeanor and felony defendants in Colorado and Louisiana. Now, Nicholas is putting his trial skills to work representing injured clients in slip-and-fall, car wreck and other injury cases. A new father, Nicholas spends as much time as he can with his wife and baby as possible. Nicholas also enjoys showing friends and family around Colorado whenever he can, and attending the many local festivals and events throughout the Denver community.
